Mongolia
Mongolia is a beautiful and mysterious country. The sparsely populated countryside is a nomadic wilderness, in some ways resembling the great western plains of America. It reminds me of the Colorado foothills. Vast expanse, massive herds of sheep, goat, cattle, wild horse herds, and yaks populate the undisturbed land for as far as the eye can see, only interrupted by the sporadic ger (pronounced "gair") dwellings. These homes are ancient and tent like, able to be put up or taken down by the Mongolian dweller in as little as 4 hours. The entire family will move their ger a couple times a year in order to follow their herds, and to stay near water sources. The diet is very heavily based on meat and dairy as you can imagine. As you can also imagine, nothing goes to waste.
